These photographs depict the scenes in the play Romeo and Juliet where the lighting helped make the scene. For example, in the funeral scene, there is a lot of top light, making shadows on the actors' faces, in addition to the cross projected on the cyc. In the night scenes, a moon box was used in addition to heavy use of R60, no color blue, to put the scene at nighttime.

The first photo is from Act 2 scene 2, right after the 'sex' scene. Many elements are used in this scene such as 3 practicals (the 2 wall sconces and the 1 chandelier) and 3 light boxes. The general idea for this scene was to provide the needed light for the actors along with adding a bit of saturation in the gold to help the scenic, and costume design stand out.

Because this show is set in a home, the artistic team wanted to portray a sense of warmth without taking away from the realism of the show itself. Using a diffused bastard amber as front lighting allows the audience to feel comfortable even with the crazy happenings in the show.
