These images capture the beginning and the end of the final fight in Tempests. Tempests is a sequel to Shakespeare's The Tempest, with a plot arc inspired by the movie Aliens. The first photo introduces Ariel, a fairy queen bent on the death of those who have colonized her island, and the second shows her defeated by Miranda. This was an independent student production, with less than a week in the space for both tech and performance, so we needed to accomplish emphatic statements using limited resources.

In this production I had limited fixtures in order to create the environment of exterior and interior daytime and night time in England. The only system I was able to double was a downstage front light system. I used the slight contrast between R55 and R60 in order to maintain a difference for modeling between both front lights and my R78 side light while still having a recognizable change from day to night other than intensity. The image resolution isn't great but all systems spoken of are present in the photo.

This piece was lit soley with side lighting to enhance the shape and movement of the dancers bodies. The R14 came from the heads (highest position) and shins while the R49 came from the mids. Their costumes were a burgundy shade that popped with the R49.

This Is a photo of the Secret Garden near the end of act 1 in a dream sequence. I am using the Rosco red, blue, and green CYC silks on the three platforms. I used Rosco because it had a very rich color feel and it made color mixing very easy. It really gave me the ability as a designer to make really saturated colors.

A small selection from a design I did last year. They cover three different scenes that were lit using Rosco filters. It was the clarity of the Rosco colours as well as their reliability over time that meant I chose their Supergel range.

These are production photos from final dress. The first photo is when the protagonist has her tongue cut out by the antagonist, a very dramatic bloody scene. The second photo is from the bacchae scene, an ancient greek festival. The third photo is from a scene when two guards are looking through a window off in the distance. The fourth photo is the captain looking off in the distance during the journey to Thrace from Athens. The fifth photo is obviously a photo of the grid from the production.

The photos are from a dance piece created as part of the Satellite Collective's Telephone Project. We were given a piece of sculpture and tasked with creating a piece that conveyed the message we saw within the sculpture. Bartlett is the piece that resulted.
