These photos were taken during the disco fantasy scene. I used a series of macros and strobes to complete the look.

In conversations with the director we decided we wanted a subtle unnatural feeling to permeate most of the scenes, the show was also staged as though being performed by a troupe from the time period of the show. So I choose to put Gaslight Green in the front light to create that unnatural sensation and also as a nod to the stage lighting of the time. There is also Medium Blue in the toplight of the second photo and a diagonal back system with Light bastard amber in the third photo. The backlight in the first photo has no gel in it.

Damn Yankees at the John E. Baggett Auditorium. The second community theatre production I've designed there, with a smattering of ETC Palettas and Vivid-Rs that make my life so much easier! All photos taken from my iPhone from the spot booth.

West Side Story, Somewhere. This is the Climax of the Show. I used R22 backlight, R59 Front Light, and a R58 and R382 CYC. There is also a hint of R370 and R39 Toplight, and some R339 Pipe End. Finally, I topped it off with a touch of R51 toplight, maybe at 50%. I used the R51 almost as a Neutral density gel,to keep the intensity low, but the color Temperature of an Open White Instrument. All of the Ellipsoidals got R119. I also used the R77545 Les Mis Grill Gobo 8 as a backlight gobo.

For all the "Ballad of Sweeney Todd" numbers, including the opening and closing, I used striplights gelled with R-99 to uplight the actors. This was done to create an eerie mood and help convey the words of the songs. R-99 is warm, but it's warm in an almost unsettling way. This effect combined with the surrounding icy and deep blues created a powerful mood. R-99 is my new favorite color.
