the Lighting describes the mood, time of day, and time of year. The cold blues set us in winter. The sunrise offers a stark difference in time of day, and helps to put the city and season into perspective agains the cold blue london sky

R07 in a PAR worked really well in the first photo to simulate a single lightbulb in a closet. The R48 and R337 highlights were really nice to create a magical, surreal feeling in the scenes that called for it, like in the second picture. A combination of R58 and R25, well as less saturated R356 and R317 respectively, worked really nicely for a back and side light combo. The second picture shows some of these mixed together and the third picture shows how nice and deep R58 + R25 were able to mix as heavy backlight during a scene where these characters were not the focus of attention.

The show took place inside the main characters brain. The show was a one woman show supported by dancers. I used the lights to convey her emotions; greif, anger, happiness, disgust etc. The story also took us deep inside caves, to a dinner party she hated, to stargazing over a city.

A forbidden show, Play On! aims to create an intimate relationship with the audience. Along with the use of street clothes, and natural lighting, the sense of any barrier between viewer and performer is taken away. This was achieved in part by the natural amber wash created by Rosco filters.

These photos are from the premiere of a new children's production called The Book of Ashes. All gels and gobos used are Rosco. We chose to use Rosco to convey the intense emotions using saturated colors as well as the dusty gold feel of Iraq. The break up gobos added texture to the air and helped define the environment.

All colors were used to create a specific mood. Red and green backlighting was used to create a Christmas aura around the charecters in "elf" and pink lighting for scenery and backlight was used in "legally Blonde". R54 was used as front light in "Elf" to not take away from the color.
